4.  had to go.  As you say, I may as well do it now & be done with it, if you dont mind, well I'm hanged if I do.  I am afraid Dave Smith  must have been having a night out, when he worked it out that we were camped at the foot of Mt Sinai, it has not been moved as far as I know, & we certainly were not near it.  At the time, we were either at Tel-el-Kebir or Serapeum.  The letter dated 24/2/16 with the foot notes to it was written at Tel-el-Kebir, & the one on 5/3/16 at Serapeum just about fifty miles away down on the canal, so Dave was clean out, in his reckonings.  I see Alick has shoved off at last, was beginning to think he had become a star boarder.  Arthur had rather bad luck to be sent to Armidale camp, as he will not see much of his people.
 The recruiting meeting you mentioned, did not appear to have been much of a success.
Lindfield certainly did make a name for themselves in the match you wrote of, it read like a cricket score.  Have they maintained their reputation.  I have come to the conclusion that we can, as you say survive, without mentioning that
