My Dear Nell,
Things are as usual dead slow.  The only exciting incident of late is that I have lost my moustache "oh what a loss."  All the lads reckon that I made a mistake in having it off.  "What do you think?"  It was growing well.  I got another batch of mail yesterday including your letter & papers.  I could pick out Major Wynne easily in the "Gilgandra, Cooee's"  Was it a fact that most of them deserted in Sydney.  They seem to be a fine lot you are sending us lately.  Evidently the last of the "elite" left when we came away.  Perhaps Mr McGoun will send a quieter lot from down south.  They'll be very gentle indeed if he comes with them, "Heaven forbid.  I see Arthur Delaney, & Fred Feek, have been returned to Home Sweet Home.  What luck.  We seem to be anchored here but one never knows when the wind
