Y.M.C.A. letterhead dated 1916.Sir,AS one of your old boys of the old N.S. Wales Scottish Rifles, I am taking the great liberty of addressing you in the following manner. I had the honor of serving under you for some time in those days & so wish its my keen desire to do so once again. As you no doubt know most of the old boys joined at the beginning, & mostly all seem to have been under your command. Some have died & others were wounded, the remainder are still with you. At the beginning I enlisted with a number of them, but had the misfortune to be passed out after a few weeks training owing to a so called defective toe. Later on I got through & am now one of the unfortunate eleventh re-inforcements & so am again parted from all my old regimental comrades.
