Dear Nell,
As you will notice by the above address I am once again in the thick of it, & am doing well.  There is no mistake about it, this is a great life.  We see some of the finest of sights, especially when there is a big bombardment going on.  The din is tremendous.  What with our guns barking, the whine of the shells of all sizes passing over head, the explosion as their's land on all sides, the unhealthy "whiz" of the (German) 77, or "whiz-bang", big sixty-pound bombs, flare-lights, rifle fire, &, the vicious Gip-Gip of the machine guns, it's simply marvellous how we miss stopping something.  It is easily realised that it takes a ton of lead to kill one man when you see all of it landing, & so few hit by it.  Gee, its dead funny to see the parapets fly when the shells hit them, that is when its Fritz's that goes up, as they have only to be built up again at night & that is a bit risky.  They say Fritz has been told that we
