France 4/4/16
Dear Nell,
This is only a short note, on the off chance, that they will let the letter through.  We landed at the pretty little or big, spot I mentioned before, down south.  Well, we had a most glorious trip right through France.  It was absolutely the most wonderful, & glorious, country I have seen, up to the present.  I don't think I ever will see a better.  We saw all kinds of strange sights, a number of which, of course I would not be allowed to mention.  The Rhone Valley was the prettiest of all.  It was one big stretch of green, & cultivated plots & from the very beginning of the valley, there are broad, deep, clear, streams, which appear to run very swiftly.  Following the rivers the whole way, are perfectly made white roads.  By Gum, Nell, its a grand country, & we both come & see it again later on.  We were in the train for sixty-one hours
