melting down prices, which is caused by a glut of stock (about 25,000 weekly) into the Melbourne market.  This is more than the butchers and the meat preserving companies can take, so they go to the tallow melters, but this state of things cannot last long.  I believe as meat preserving operations are extended it will prevent such a sacrifice of stock.
