trip he was accompanied by a friend and three black lads.  He had upwards of 20 horses, a number of the weakest of which he left near the Gulf.  He was only between 3 and 4 months absent.  He saw a great deal of fine country as well as some inferior Country.  He found several settlements in the Flinders on his route returning.  The sheep he say saw there not looking well, though he was uncertain whether it arose from mismanagement or the inferiority (if any) of the pastures.

One thing I disliked of this Country [were?] the rivers falling northwards to the Gulf, was the absence of the "Salt Bush".  There is a plant which some of the explorers have described as Salt Bush, but which
