in Melbourne.

After parting with you I saw the American Consul General, who in the course of conversation on the suitableness of the Californian Climate & pastures for the production of fine wool, he suggested "Texas" as far preferable - he told me he was a "Southern Man" himself & could speak from experience.  I have since read some works on Texas, and I should dread the effect of the "Norther" a strong N.E. wind which would I fear cut up fine wooled sheep very much.

I shall hope to hear from you.

Yours very sincerely
W. Campbell.
