Burra Mine" that was in 1853.  I found the country along the Murray then suffering from a long drought, in fact they had scarcely had a good shower for years before then.  While this was the state on the Murray the west side of the range only 30 miles distant which divides that river from St Vincents Gulf all along to Adelaide was well watered.  Query whether this does not prevail farther north.  My own predilections would be in favor of a run between the Lachlan & the Darling, and before the plains, and as near the ranges as possible, as it is found that the upper plains are always better grassed than the lower.
