we are all suffering from the ruinous strikes, the end of which is uncertain.

Weather has been the coldest here (during this month) that has been felt for the last 50 years, so it is thought that that is a sign of a severe winter.  There has been an abnormal number of icebergs in the Atlantic which may be the cause of our early cold.

I suppose you are coming home through Canada;  it will be a nice change from the heat of Ceylon & the Red Sea.
