My dear Mrs. Onslow,
I received your kind letter of the 15th ult. a few days ago, and was truly glad to hear that you were all so well. The Epidemic which you refer to has I hear been common to Melbourne as well as to Sydney. I hope it will have passed away without very serious losses. The scarcity of domestic servants is a most serious matter to families resident in the Colonies, and I do not see how it is to be obviated except by immigration which the "manhood electors" are not likely to sanction.

My wife joins in best wishes and kindest regards to you and to all of yours,
Yours very sincerely
