to work a large station. The Dessaillys [Desailly] had I believe £60,000 derived from the sale of their Billibong stations, and in about 3 years they were insolvent.
The Melbourne Banking Company lost £100,000 on the Tooralle Station on the Darling. I mention these facts to shew that a rent of £100 a Block is more than a man can pay on a back block, consequently many of those blocks will be thrown up, and many of the Lessees will soon be ruined if they go on improving.
