Merinos in Victoria shewed 60 fleeces in the grease (samples of which I send you) but you will observe that they are far behind in value per fleece, though placed only a penny per lb below the highest in value.  I think they were not well selected and I am not sure whether the fleeces are pure bred.  Green & Burt sold the greater portion of the pure flock to Mr. McKnight, and a smaller portion to the Messrs Wilson, and only retained the smallest portion themselves.  They have however lately purchased McKnights portion of the flock back from him.  When I last wrote to you I was in treaty with McKnight about the purchase
