to send cracked maize up to feed the working horses.  We have had a very light clip, together with a very small increase.  This coupled with the additional expense of management makes many of the stations unprofitable - and I cannot see how recent purchases at high prices are to be met.  I think there must be a sad crises amongst the squatters unless we are blessed with a sufficient fall of rain soon.  We have had fair rain on the sea-board here within the last few days, but not sufficient.  It is now very stormy without rain.

I hear that Furlonge had to mortgage his stations to Joshua Brothers for £100,000.  It is not improbable that the stations purchased from Lord Ramsay with the progeny
