I have observed it on the Murray, Murrimbidgee and even on our minor rivers of Victoria on their short course upon the plains, the same holds good on the Nile in Egypt, it arises no doubt from the alluvial matter first deposited on the upper plain being richer & greater in quantity.  No doubt sheep fatten & grow to a good size on salt bush country, but without succulent grasses combined the fleeces are deficent, and the lambings are not as prolific.  I think I fully explained my views
