When he says above the Barrier Ranges I suppose he alludes to the country to the north of it, as his principal run was at Mt. Murchieson. The whole of the immense plain extending from the Lachan [Lachlan] & Murrimbidgee northwards & westwards is of the same dry character with scarcity of grass, though as I pointed out in a former letter, the nearer the base of the ranges the better grassed the plains are
