as an expression of satisfaction towards Mr. McLean I am desirous of presenting him with a first rate saddle horse and if you have really a first class horse fit to carry his weight for sale, you will oblige me by presenting it to him for me.  You can draw upon me for the price which I will leave entirely to yourself.  I have told Mr. McLean that I am to make him such a present, and I would like that he should see the horse before he takes him and that he should like him, and if you have not a horse to his liking he might prefer taking him one direct from Melbourne.
