A young man a friend of mine a Mr. Govett went up to Rockampton [Rockhampton] some 6 months ago, and took up some country on the "Barcoo" on Mitchell's Victoria which from his description is of first rate quality and well watered, it lies about 420 miles west of Rockampton and at a short distance of not adjoining Sir Wm. Mannings Station.  Govett took up 500 square miles of that country in connection with another young man of the name of Parsons, and in order to enable them to get their licenses they rent stock from Harding & Manning at a cost of £1000 for six months, and bind themselves to hand over their licenses to Harding & Manning should they be unable to pay the £1000.  Govett & Parsons
