My dear Mr. Macarthur,
I had the pleasure of your letter of the 17th inst. I think you have acted wisely in deferring your voyage for a month longer, as the equinoctial gales will be over before you start. The "Northam" although a fine fast going Steamer is badly ventilated and although it will be warmer in the red sea with you, you will be in a better ventilated ship, and I think altogether more comfortable. I speak from experience, having made 4 passages to & from Europe in Steamers, one of them in the "Northam".
