THE BOYS DROVING TRIP

The five of us who finished, or rather went thro the droving trip in they 1800 floods, were all boys. Dick may have been 21, & had been droving before, my 21st birthday was near the end of the trip, the two Bills & Bunda were not out of their teens.

My first & only long droving trip, was just over 57 years ago. Had gone to my fathers station MIRIAM VALE, QUEENSLAND, 45 miles from GLADSTONE, straight from school Syd. G.S., but had been brought up on a Station, BOORALONG near ARMIDALE, & had broken in horses at the age of 16, & know now that they were well broken. Was given some very good advice by a bonsa old Irishman, it was "Never get on a horse you have never been on before".  To show he meant what he said, tho no horseman, he climbed onto one of the horses bare backed
