WILLIAM LANSBOROUGH of TOWERAN stn (explorer)  used to leave his old pack mare at Miriam Vale, at the end of each trip, & always had to rope her to catch her when starting on a fresh trip. She had been given to him by the Gov. for dispersing some blacks. His neighbours used to call her BLOOD MONEY which he did not like. He always made his hobbles of green hide, he could eat them, but not leather ones.

My father was in charge of Miriam Vale from 1856 to 1865, 9 years & left Mr ALFRED WITT in charge, & he was there till 1887. C.E. ROE was head stockman most of the time. By 1875 they had a beautiful herd of shorthorns 14,000 head. They took up EVESHAM station on the TOMSON river, about 50 miles a little bit to N of W of LONGREACH & 7000 1/2 the herd were sent
