He said they had told him, that in a dry time there were very big fires, & the abos made for a big waterhole like BUG-UN-OMA in the 3 MILE, or into a big vine scrub, as fires never go into a big vine scrub. They also went into a vine scrub in a thunderstorm (BOOROOMGA thunder) as lightning (DEIL) never strikes a vine scrub (which is right).
He also told us the old blacks told him they used to have very big dust storms, so guess it is not altogether the overstocking that is the reason for them as kangaroos were not numerous enough to eat all the grass out.
