How the abos taught me to work cattle.

It is second nature to an aboriginal who cannot read nor write to work cattle. They are taught when young to round up a mob of kangaroos, a covey of quail, a shoal of fish & not having to think what is the difference between Ben Chifley & a communist, or if there is any difference, they give the cattle their full attention.

"Abos" on either side of a big mob of cattle watch each other, they can anticipate when the cattle on their side is going to move out & turn them in but too far by moving closer in at once.

If they are inclined to turn in too much the "abo" on the other wing moves them in just enough but not too much.

A white man is often thinking of something else & does not think of turning them in until they have swerved out quite a while, & not anticipating that he has turned the mob enough he keeps in close up to them & he turns them too much
