We never saw a beast linger when let walk along this way.

They got over the ground in much better time & we were home soon after the Boss, who told us we had driven them too fast.

Never drive cattle but let them walk along. Never drive your hands either. On another occasion after my taking over the management we were bringing about 800 heifers in from the heifer paddock & they were inclined to stick us up.

Bunda edged in towards me & said, it was that Flurry Fool Charlie who was turning the leaders in too much that was the trouble, so sent Bunda up in the lead & told Charlie always to stay behind the mob & the heifers just walked along.

From then on if we had Abos or 1/2 castes with us, always had them in the lead & there was no further delay. Years after a good willing white had worked for me but he did not have "stock work" in him, & had to be watched all the time & told what to do.
