After that they knew how visitors should be entertained, gave us a good feed, & took us sailing on their ? harbour. The Railway Surveyors were years surveying the line from BUNDABERG to GLADSTONE. Think that a tennis court on the Gladstone side of RUNNING on MACHINE creek, made by the surveyors, was the first tennis court near Gladstone, but may be wrong. We had one at Miriam Vale, & there was one at ROSEDALE cattle station.

The first two shows at Gladstone were held where the railway line now is, towards THE VALLEY, & TOBY was a hot favourite for the high jump, but the (sic) no stock yard at BARMUNDOO would hold Toby, he balked at 4ft, tho the mother of his side used to follow up each time shouting "Toby will win". Mr Roe was asked to judge the cattle
