It would not do not to mention the Picnic Races, which were suggested when a party of town & country people went for a picnic up Mount LARCOMBE. Someone wanted to know why we could not have picnic races in our part of Qld., like lots of other places had. All were in favour, & the first meeting was at RIVERSTONE, W. & A. BAYNES station in the early nineties.

The big race the Ladies BRACELET was won by my horse BARALLAN, over 1 MILE with 12 stone up, Mr W. BARNES SEAWEED was second. A nice chestnut horse called PEACOCK, ridden by E. BARKER won the Ladies Bag. My horse BARALLAN was left at the post (owing to my greenness in looking behind for a  friends horse that was not in line) was record. The PICINIC HCP. 11/4 miles was a dead heat between my horse KING BILLY & a LANGMORN horse ridden by F. MENZIES.

The next meeting was at BARMUNDOO, where Mr HARPER cleared a good course, by cutting the surface roots,
