away and I darent go over to have a smoke with a pal as I have never got anyone I can leave in charge should anything suddenly occur.  And it is generally when one is just the slightest bit lax that the most important things occur.  Sometimes I feel so fed up I would like to disband the outfit & go home.  But I'll make up for it all next week for then I hope that two of my brother officers will have joined me & if so I am due for 10 days in England.  And wont I make things willing when I get there.  How I wish you were over there at present Pater old chap.  I reckon we'd be able to knock out some fun eh?    Fancy the two of us - right away from the Mater - Guess we'd make the pace a cracker - what!!!  we'd look up some of those old fairies of yours & take them for a run down to Maidenhead for a day's picnic eh?  I am keenly looking forward to seeing old Bob again.  We're quite like brothers -  he & I - not a bit like distant second cousins.  Your other relations are jolly nice & homely too, of course, old chap, but they're awful wowsers.  I suppose they like being like that but it's not too cheery altogether. It gets a bit monotonous at times & life's too short for that.  One of them sent me a text or something similar for Christmas.  I shall (I started to draw a pretty lady on this sheet but found that I was short of writing paper to finish this note.  Hope you wont mind.)
