7 months for officers though it will be well over that before I fall on my feet again - unless the allotment increases soon as it is rumoured.
One of our subs who took the Paris leave that was offered to me has just returned & he's wildly enthusiastic about his trip. He was there on the "Glorious Fourth" of July. As at present Paris is full of Americans it was a brilliant gala day and Wharton tells me the procession marched over roads strewn with millions of roses. I'm as annoyed as the dickens now that I didnt take the chance.
I am pleased to report that young Syd is in the very pink and in high spirits. Myself - never fitter.
I've got to finish right here. Will give you all the news in a later letter.
Have just been speaking to Wharton about weddings engagement rings and he tells me that you cant get a decent one under about £25 or £30. If this is so please dont limit yourself.
Sincerely trust "alls well". Tons of love to the Mater, yourself, Fred & Bob.
Your ever affectionate son
Arty
Capt A.H. Smith

Westerton & Wallace who are both engaged are just going to have a lot of rum to get for to drink the health of our fiancès.
