months of travelling.
Your letter of 12 May is quite a cheery one - full of fun and as that is the last Ive received from you it is more than satisfactory.
Im so glad to read that you are going up to stay with Reta for a while. By all accounts Upwey, and especially Rete's bit of it, is beautiful, and with Rete's cheery company you should benefit a great deal. She's a grand girl and I appreciate her kindness & thoughtfulness towards you a very great deal.
I shall certainly write to Mrs Dowler and thank her for her considerate thoughtfulness to you, as soon as I get a chance.
On the back of your last letter is a memo from the Pater telling me that as soon as I am a Major I am to give myself 6 month's leave for a sea trip. Please inform him that I am still a fair way from the rank of Major and even so Majors even cannot do exactly as they like at all times!
Now Mater dear I'll stop here and write a few lines to the Pater while opportunity permits & as soon as I get time I'll go on and give you all the news.
