Harper had stared his engine I had absolutely no misgivings and felt no qualms at all - merely a most exhilarating sensation as we left the ground and the earth took on the form of a neat little model of farm buildings trees roads & green paddocks beneath us, getting smaller each second.  It was really a most picturesque sight to see all the diferent things on the ground all laid out so neatly just as though they were all modelled with clay on a huge board.  We flew at varying heights varying from 3000 to 8000 feet and at speeds from 70 to 90 miles an hour.  It was a glorious day and we could see splendidly.  We flew along the line from here to nearly the end
