Brighton for a week-end, which we enjoyed to the full. I was surprised to find that this place was quite as big as Melbourne. It is populated, as far as I could see, by pretty, charming and frivolous girls and it wasn't till later that I found out that this is what makes Brighton famous. We made many friends down there during our short stay and we had a big Metalurgique car placed at our entire disposal for the time we were there. We afterwards motored up to the City in it, the trip taking us less than 3 hours. We went to most of the theatres – High Jinks, Razzle-Dazzle, The Misleading Lady, Three Cheers, Vanity Fair, Some Pell Mell, Houp la!, Chu Chin Chow, The Bing Boys. We met James Campbell whom Staley used to know in Melb[ourne] when he was out there playing the Dame in Mother Goose – also Riggall knew
