I have just received your note of 22nd October so you will see that it has taken 2½ months to reach me. It is the first Australian letter I have received for over a month. Many mails have been sunk recently, both going to and coming from Australia.
As you say Mater it was indeed sad that Syd's pal Lindsay lost his life - but it was in a fine cause and there should be no regrets.
I am awfully glad to read that you had been up a bit about the time you wrote this letter. I sincerely trust, dear Mater, that you are now very nearly if not entirely your dear self again. Your severe illness has worried me terribly and I shall not be happy until Fred is back with you. He should be embarking any day now. It is one thing I am more satisfied at having fixed up than I can
