being married over this side as my ideas on the subject coincide with yours. I certainly haven't forgotten Ida and hadnt any intention of doing so though I would at least have told her so were it in my mind. I dont even charge her with "doing foolish things" and Im afraid Ive said some rather harsh things which were quite uncalled for & must have been written in a bad temper. However dont you be afraid on this score. I have numerous little girl pals over here - French, English & Scotch & one in America - and I think a lot of them all, as I do my old pals in Australia such as Connie, Reta & Stella Chapman - but I still think as much as ever of Ida & I've just written to tell her so. Furthermore she asked me in her last letter if I were agreeable to her having a ring and I am writing to the Pater to buy her one on my behalf. This is a matter which I have often thought about. Before I left Australia I asked Id if she would care to become engaged "officially" & though she wanted to her eldest sister was totally against the idea - a fact which has ever since displeased me. Then when I was in Mena I wrote Ida asking her if she would care to have a ring & I never received an answer and I've since learnt that Id never got that letter.
