cannot be prevailed upon to do as you insist and leave housekeeping worries entirely alone.  This is where Fred would come in as he would be home all the week and keep his eyes on things in general, take on most of the responsibility himself, and restrain the Mater from worrying about household matters at all.  That was my reason for putting the idea of a return home into his head. I can quite see how this house is the Mater's pet hobby -  a house for "when the boys come home" - and on that account it may be detrimental to take it away from her except as a last recourse.

I know how the Mater has always loved her house and would never, on that account, go away for a holiday and so long as she had this
