later that a double stall is supposed to be a far more dickey sensation even than looping the loop. Poor old Harper seemed terribly dejected because I was too thickheaded to become frightened. He brought me home in a round about way so that we should pass over a chain of big French cities and it was enormously interesting to see them from the clouds. When we got back here he made a beautiful landing and I got out feeling that it had been truly one of the big events of my life. We had been in the air 2¼ hours & had flown over 200 miles and not for a second during the whole trip did I feel the slightest tremor
