My dear Pater
Circumstances which I cannot ignore and over which I am powerless, ordain that this shall be rather an abrupt screed.
Your letters of 21 & 26 Mar hereby acknowledged with, as usual, great & earnest thanks. Your letters are always good.
Thanks for envelope pointing out that I had forgotten to complete the address. It is herewith enclosed with the omission inserted.
It appears that I had made a remark in one of my letters that I do not receive enough "home" news as it is followed up by respective letters from your illustrious self, the Mater, and young Bob, containing each the same details - the Mater's fowls have had a litter of 7 chickens, Possum killed a chicken, the fowls lay on an average 3 eggs per diem, &c &c. - which of course is all entertaining but hardly what I meant.
