the fun, entirely heedless of any protestations and vain endeavours to restrain him.  I was running a good second when the trooper appeared with the result that he ignorantly took my name, together with the others, as a deliberate miscreant instead of sympathizing with me as an innocent and nervous rider whose horse had bolted with him.  However, none of us heard any more of the episode so we are still outside gaol.  It was, of course, shocking & disgraceful behaviour in such a place, where duchesses, counts and members of Parliament, Admirals, heiresses, viscounts & countesses, actresses and such people congregate but of course we were only ill-behaved Australians who didn't know any better.
