the cathedral which was built, or rather part of it, in 1100, and added to in 1523, 1670 & so on at periods till now it is a glorious old building, a mixture of half a dozen kinds of architecture.  We spent some time reading the tablets on the walls which were interesting on account of the fact that they marked the burial places of many men famous in English history.  The wording and spelling of some of these tablets was very quaint.  We went up the tower where Charles I watched his troops fighting the battle of Rowton Moor, in fact there was a caretaker there who explained all the
