My dear Mater & Pater
To continue ~ Now you will want to hear the details of my furlough. Here goes. From here I went to Havre where I spent a day, then back to Paris where I spent a day & a half, then on to Boulogne for a day, back to Paris again for another day & a half, then again to Havre where I put in another day awaiting the boat that should take me to "Blighty". I had 10 days leave in England and a couple extra for luck, back to Havre where I had to wait 3 days for a train to take me as far as Amiens. Here I spent still another day 'ere coming on to the war. The trip around France prior to my going to England was not counted as leave. I had a special pass to allow me to travel round as I did and have such an enjoyable & interesting if hurried, look round the big cities. But I will pass over that and go on from when I
