probably filling a place. You mustnt get those silly notions into your dear head. Furthermore I want to reprimand you. In one of these letters you sign yourself "Your useless old mother". Now I think I spoke on this point before but as Im not absolutely certain you shall have the benefit of the doubt, but let it be clearly understood right now that if such a point comes to my notice again you're for it! Is that fully understood?
As you say it is "a glorious" British Army.
You are a funny Mater. Just because I told you about a dear little Scotch pal of mine that I like very much you censure me and ask me "if I have quite forgotten the little Australian lassie waiting over there for me". You say "she may have done foolish things but that I should ponder before I marry a girl so far removed from my own land". Surely dear I can have little Scotch pals - or Chinese for that matter - without marrying them. I never suggested that it was even in my mind to think of so doing and even if Ida was not waiting over there for me I should'nt think of
