Dear Sir

I am desired by his Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester to thank you very much for your letter of 9 July & for the leaflet you enclosed.

His Royal Higness was most interested to read of your droving trip, taken over fifty-six years ago, with all its attendant difficulties, & amusing incidents.

I have read it myself, & certainly agree with you that the boys did not make too bad a job of it.

His Royal Highness desires me to thank you very much for your kind words which he much appreciates.

Yours faithfully

Richard Hawkins
