proceeded to the wagon line in a heavy snow storm.  Bitterly cold as it was I was almost oblivious to it, so full of exultation was I.  At 9 pm. that night a wagon of ours became bogged in the mud a mile from the W.L. & the drivers came in to report their failure to extricate it.  The prospect of my absence from all such things for a week being so near made me enthusiastic enough to go out with a fresh team of ten horses and see if I could help to get the wagon in.  The snow storm was still going strong nor did it cease during the whole
