Mater dearest
I am pushing off on leave in the morning and I doubt if I shall have much time whilst I am in England to write so I shall just scribble a few lines now in answer to your 2 notes of 8th & 14th Oct.
I am so sorry to learn that you've had another bad turn. It's simply rotten that such a thing should happen at this time isnt it. But of course the state of affairs existing has caused your trouble I dont doubt. If things were not as they are your health would not be suffering as it is. I do hope the doctor is at fault in saying that you might lose the use of your leg. That would be terrible. Do take care of yourself Mater. I am terribly anxious about you.
