kid. He's full of vitality and enthusiasm too! I put in an application for his transfer and if it does not come through shortly I intend to follow it up personally. I saw his O.C. & put things right as much as possible for Syd & he promised to help the transfer along. He also promised to let me know should anything happen to him. I've not heard from Syd since he went into the line and so you can imagine that Ive been worrying a good deal, knowing what sort of a show he's been up against but I feel sure that he must be OK because 3 or 4 of Syd's mates had my address & instructions to let me know if anything went wrong - the Officers of Syd's unit promised to do the same and as they are quite handy to the Battery & I've not heard anything
