Dearest Mater
I am going to do rather an unfair thing. I am right out of writing paper and as I have the chance of writing you a line or two I do not wish to miss that chance. So I am using the only available paper - The unused side of a letter to me from Bob. Its a pretty low trick but what else is to be done? Thanks Mater for your splendid letter of 4th March. Here I've just finished answering several letters from you and still they come. Its been just splendid since I came from hospital, I have received 45 letters in a couple of days.
Thanks very much for the photos you have sent to Bob for me. They will turn up in a day or so, no doubt.
I shall do as you ask Mater dear, and keep Syd's pal Lindsay Lowe in mind and do every thing in my power for him - as of course I shall be doing for Syd.
Yes it is a coincidence that Syd should leave as a reinforcement for the 2nd Bde Amm. Col. Quite so, dear, I did think more, at the time,
