My dear Pater
In continuance of my previous effusion of a few days ago I now intend to comment on yours of 4th Jan as Ive an afternoon to fill in here awaiting tomorrow's boat to "Blighty". The sailings were cancelled today on a/c of frightfulness on the part of the Bosche navy.
In this letter you speak as if I had censured you for not telling me of the Mater's illness. I certainly should like to know exactly how things stand in every way at home at all times but I certainly did not mean to infer in my letter some time ago that you had been at fault in not advising me of the true state of things.
