the bank of the Avon to Clifton Suspension Bridge which spans the great chasm that river has carved for itself through the soft soil & rock. The Clifton Bge is a fine sight, being about as long as our own bridge at North Sydney, & crossing at a height of at least 300 feet. It was built as far back as 1836-1854. From here we returned by Taxi to Bristol Cathedral & then saw the Art Gallery Cabôt Tower & University Buildings, also the Victoria Rooms. Then another taxi brought us home to dinner.
