Diary
Wed 10-5-16: 10 pm. Arrived back in camp for last time. Have just been watching the men return, bursting thro' the gates in defiance of the marmalade gate guard who would allow them in one by one. All the men are quiet and orderly, a little excited perhaps but seemingly quite contented and happy. Received pay to date & retired about midnight for a short sleep.
11-5-16 Reveille 3-30 am. Rose, washed & proceeded to canteen for breakfast which we obtained after a 1/2 hrs struggle.
