This morning I next proceeded to the Bank of England, surrounded by countless other banks like so many satellites. What was my surprise & almost stupefaction to find that the great Bank of England was a one storeyed building although occupying a whole block in one of the most valuable positions in London. Admission is gained by two doors only & I wandered in & noticed inter alia, labourers carting silver bullion about the courtyard. From the Bank of England I found my way to Broad Street
