been closed to the public for the last five months. I was very disappointed to hear this. The building is very imposing and has covers I believe twelve acres of ground so one can form some idea of its magnitude. The dome, although not visible from the street is almost as high as that of St Paul's Cathedral. I might delay to mention that all the public buildings of London are built of a sort of white sandstone, and owing to this light colour being visible only where the stone is exposed to the weather (mainly coming from the South) owing to the accumulation in time of a deposit of soot and dirt
